Wired to the world, a loaded gun in hand Your profile image, is power you’ve never had On the keys your king, in wired life you reign And no credentials to speak of in your digital domain Face reflecting pixels, you plan your next critique And rape the powerful pen, perfecting your technique Senseless evaluation, of an artist’s heart Where you’ll never get what you judge in their art Your weak and crooked fingers tap out a soulless beat Searching for the letters of how you’re displeased A broadband of signals gives power to words Another digital critic feed on the feces they stir

What If... 05:05
What if your last breath was just what you said And the last thought you had when the clock strikes you dead You cease to exist in body, mind, & soul And the time that you spent on earth was just a show What if found you couldn’t hear a sound After all, you were right, your final home is just the ground And the love that you gave to family and friends so dear Was just a moment in a life of wasted years Now all you see in your day is night No worth, no joy, no peace of mind And all your rags you left to heirs Death won’t redeem those left in tears What is you are right and this is all there is So what if you died and your blood just turns to mist But what if you’re wrong, and a new world awaits And death lost its grip in life, beyond the grave.

I broke out of prison when I was seventeen Lookin’ hard at the world, I was feelin’ mean I tried to find the life I wanted out on the streets The way I took wasn’t easy, in fact it was obscene Ridin’ hard down the road for something that’s just out of reach I can’t tell what’s up ahead, and can’t return from where I leave I’m late for an early grave I know that I can be saved I’m late for an early grave I’ll never fade away I’m older now but lost as ever, still trying to find that life Around the bend I know it’s there, it’s just out of sight By this time next year baby, I’ll be doin’ alright It’s what I tell myself everyday, it’s the thing that pulls me through the night I take one step forward baby, feels like two steps back But when I get to where I’m going , I’m never, ever gonna look back I’m late for an early grave I know that I can be saved I’m late for an early grave I’ll never fade away

On the day when our father died As close as we’ve been until the tears dried That moment of grief made a change for good Then time nursed the scar and covered our wounds A bloodline we’ve shared with superficial care As close as a call and sometimes a stones throw We’ve passed through the years, our time slipping near With our love on hold to reap and sew this woe In the days of our youth, never finding the truth It was all about tomorrow, now it feeds our common sorrow As we fade into today and realize our mortal way What seemed like forever, is now a fading flower Mother, sisters, and brother, how have we cared about the other With no intention to hurt, reality brings disconcert Bred in tradition of strife, will we ever speak life And not doubt our love, when self isn’t the one we’re thinking of We never did what was said, only what was done With no fault to be laid, and no blame to anyone We can’t un-see or remover the wonders of our eyes Or the works of our flesh, which haunts our minds.

I’m running the race that’s set before me And I’ve been a disgrace in the war that calls me But if I didn’t bleed, back in the mud I’d be A labor of love in this battle I’m sent Where the dark would hang me if I lived in regret So I carry on even if I fall Brothers together, even when we crawl. By nature’s desire, I’d plunk it to the wind My jar of clay is treasure when I’ve nothing to give Let my weakness be what makes me strong Let this thorn keep me, hold my pride down low Without it I’d reap what my flesh would sew So brother carry on even if we fall Even when we bleed, from the mud we crawl.

Teacher 04:01
Well, the dawn was coming Heard him ringing on my bell. He said, “My name's the teacher, That is what I call myself” And I have a lesson That I must impart to you. It's an old expression But I must insist it's true. Jump up, look around, find yourself some fun No sense in sitting there, hating everyone No man's an island and his castle isn't home, The nest is full of nothing when the bird has flown So I took a journey Threw my world into the sea With me went the teacher Who found fun instead of me Hey man, what's the plan, what was that you said? Sun-tanned, drink in hand, lying there in bed I try to socialize but I can't seem to find What I was looking for, got something on my mind Then the teacher told me It had been a lot of fun. Thanked me for his ticket And all that I had done Jump up, look around, find yourself some fun No sense in sitting there, hating everyone No man's an island and his castle isn't home, The nest is full of nothing when the bird has flown

Her image reflects and bares the pain inside Of past mistakes and the dreams that died Their judging eyes in the shelter she seeks Won’t let her forget, her past is all they see Riches for rags for a friendly embrace A small thing to ask for a measure of faith She humbles herself and takes a step of belief But the sideway stares are all she perceives A sigh of dread, head bowed in shame Shakes the dust from her feet through the door where she came Sculpted lines of time shows in her face Of the days gone by as another hour fades Turned away on hands and knees Traditions of men choking out the need They’re leaving tears to dry in the wind And a scarlet letter for what she was…way back then Back to the street, bereft shadow she cast Where her chance seems better than the place she was last Another empty night in a stranger’s embrace Looking for peace in the love she gave Still she cries out but no words are replying And the words fall on deaf ears, like a love song for the dying Turned away on hands and knees Traditions of men choking out the need They’re leaving tears to dry in the wind And a scarlet letter for what she was… Generations come and generations go But only the love we give will be what lives on The seeds that we plant today will grow in hearts beyond So soon our rising sun will be settling at dawn Remember how we once were brought low Don’t forget the image in the mirror we saw Our only desire, a compassionate face A Man of no repute to absolve us with grace

Alarm clock is ringin’, I can’t get out of bed Too many bad thoughts in my head Finally pull myself up and slip into my jeans This ain’t what I want or what I need It’s another day, I can’t get along Play my guitar, it’s a new song On the road to nowhere and another dead end sign Got to keep my hopes and dreams alive Got to find the road to somewhere, don’t let it pass me by Never surrender your mind Thinkin’ hard about this song but I can’t find the words TV in the back’s getting’ on my nerves Trying to feel mother wit, but all I feel is numb Ain’t it so much fun when you’re on a bum Can’t you see what I’m trying to do Ain’t no hit song, that jive’s for you On the road to nowhere and another dead end sign Got to keep my hopes and dreams alive Got to find the road to somewhere, don’t let it pass me by Never surrender your mind Never surrender your mind
